Pocophone F1 was officially presented. It is the first smartphone of the Xiaomi sub-brand, which intends to offer devices with high-quality presentations at very competitive prices.
In fact, it is a device equipped with Snapdragon 845 coupled to 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 64/128/256 GB of internal memory expandable via micro-SD. The Full-HD + display, made with IPS LCD technology, has a 6.18-inch diagonal with a 19 – 9 aspect ratio. Also in this case – as in the Xiaomi MI 8 – the screen is characterized by the presence of a large notch that integrates the front camera.
As for the photographic sector, on the polycarbonate back cover a dual vertical camera with a 12 MP main sensor coupled to a 5MP secondary. While on the front there is a single 20MP sensor with support for the Face Unlock. Furthermore, the biometric sensor on the back is not missing.
From the design point of view, Poco has chosen to use polycarbonate because – he says – a glass cover increases production costs and reduces resistance. However, the company presented a version called Armored Edition, with a Kevlar back cover. Under the shell, a 4000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support.
The software platform is entrusted to Android 8.1 Oreo with the customization of the MIUI interface. The update to Android Pie is scheduled for the next few months. One of the peculiarities is the presence of the POCO Launcher, a drawer that automatically categorizes all applications.
Finally, chapter prices and availability. Pocophone F1 arrives in India in three color variations – Graphite Black, Steel Bleu and Rosso Red and in addition the version with the body in Kevlar. As said at the beginning, the top of the range comes in different denominations of memory with competitive prices. Specifically, we start from 20,999 rupees (about 260 euros) for the 6 + 64 GB and 23,999 rupees (about 297 euros) for the 6 + 128 GB variant. While, the 8 GB version of RAM and 256 GB of storage will be available for 28,999 rupees (about 360 euros), ending with 29,999 rupees (about 371 euros) for the Kevlar version.
Pocophone will be available in some country starting August 29, while the official presentation for the European market is scheduled for next week in Paris. The prices will probably be different but certainly, they will be really competitive for the market segment in which the smartphone intends to position itself.
