Redmi India has announced that the brand is going into the production of Smart TVs. The announcement revealed that the company is launching a Redmi Smart TV X series.
The series will include Redmi Smart TV X65, Smart TV X55, and Smart TV X50. Although all these TV sets contain the same features, they come in different screen sizes. There is one at 50 inches, another at 55 inches, while the largest is 65 inches.
These new Smart TV X series will go on sale on Amazon, Mi Home, Mi Studios, and Mi.com from March 26, 2021, at noon. At a later time, it will also be made available in offline retail stores.
These Smart TV series come with 4K HDR technology and Dolby Vision. They also support HDR 10+. The audio performance is 30W and it has support for DTS Virtual X, DTS-HD, Dolby Audio, Dolby Atmos Pass. It runs the 64-bit quad-core A55 CPU coupled with Mali G52 MP2 and it has 2GB RAM plus 16GB storage.
These smart TVs run on Android 10 out of the box and also come with a Xiaomi PatchWall user interface. There are three HDMI 2.1 enabled ports, with one of them supporting eARC to connect Dolby Atmos soundbar or home theatre to the Smart TV.
There is also support for Google Assistant and Chromecast, and it is powered by MediaTek MT9611 chipset. The price range will be for the 50 inches $455, while the 55 inches will sell $537, and the 65 inches TV will sell for $800.
It is hoped that the new releases will encourage more homes in India and abroad to purchase more Smart TVs. At present, India is said to have about 170 million homes with TV sets but less than 20 million homes have smart TVs.
