During the month of April OnePlus will launch the new smartphone line of the OnePlus 8 series, which should include OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. It is rumored that the company also wants to return to the mid-range, after the failure of OnePlus X, creating a OnePlus 8 Lite that should be released together with the two high-end devices.
Design
Let’s start with the design- OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro should take up much of what we saw with OnePlus 7T Pro last year. On the front, we will have a large AMOLED display with curved edges and a hole in the upper left for the front camera. In the back, we will have a glass back cover with the photographic module arranged vertically. A fairly wise design choice that tries to confirm the family feeling we saw last year.
Further confirmation on the device’s design comes thanks to Slashleaks, who published the image of a first case for the device, which confirms what has been leaked so far on the design side.
Not only that- the first real images of what should be a future cover for the next OnePlus 8 Pro also arrive.
There is also an Instagram story that would immortalize the new killer flagship.
The well-known leaker @onleaks in collaboration with iGeeksBlog has published a new render that shows the next OnePlus 8 Pro from every angle and in the new green color, which should be the novelty of this year. The back seems to have the same matte finish already seen last year on the OnePlus 7 / 7T Pro.
Pete Lau said that a tempered glass with a matte finish made with a new manufacturing process was used in the back cover. The fifth generation of this glass better reflects the variations in light intensity and maintains a good level of transparency, thus creating a gradient effect that gradually changes from opaque to transparent. Below you will find a short video teaser published by the company that shows the new Glacial Green color.
On the other hand, OnePlus 8 Lite will have a slightly more anonymous design that will not be much different from the many mid-range smartphones that we will see in 2023. Frontally we will have a huge display with a hole positioned in the central part, while on the back we will have the photographic system positioned all around. inside a black rectangular bump.
Render official press
Now very little is missing at the presentation of the new OnePlus devices, and in the last hours WinFuture.de has published the first “official” press renders, which show the Pro variant in the colors Black, Green and Blue.
Technical specifications
Until recently, the technical specifications of the three devices were still a bit confusing, but thanks to GizTop which listed the three devices, we have all the alleged technical specifications of the devices.
What seems certain, based on Pete Lau’s latest tweet, is that all upcoming OnePlus 8 will have 5G support:

All three datasheets seem quite consistent with what has transpired so far even if we expect the next OnePlus 8 Pro to have a display with Quad HD + resolution, as happened last year with the Pro versions. Surprisingly the Lite version will adopt the Mediatek’s new Dimensity 1000 SoC, which we have not yet seen at work, but which promises excellent performance in the mid-range.
Below you can take a look at a first live image of OnePlus 8 which shows part of the technical specifications of the device.
Finally the IP68 certification
One of the features that has always been absent on OnePlus devices, and requested loudly by users, is the IP68 certification, which officially makes the devices resistant to water and dust. OnePlus has repeatedly made it clear that its devices were equally resistant to water and dust and that the absence of this certification was a choice related only to wanting to keep prices low.
Apparently things will change with the next devices- the leaker Max J. has published a tweet that shows the shape of a OnePlus 8 with the writing Water which should herald the arrival of this certification.

Is it time for wireless charging?
Apparently it seems that the Chinese company has really convinced itself to also adopt wireless charging on its devices, although most likely we will see it only on the two high-end devices and not on the lite version. According to the latest rumors, wireless charging will be 30W and will be called Warp Charge 30 Wireless.
According to what has been leaked, it will be able to recharge the smartphone from 1% to 50% in just half an hour, similar to the Warp Charge via cable already present on OnePlus devices. It also seems to have an energy efficiency close to 97%, so the smartphone should receive almost all the 30W available.
The charging technology is based on the technology of the sister company / partner OPPO, although the company claims to have made some changes.
Price and availability
The launch event of the new OnePlus 8 series will officially take place on April 14th at 5pm through an online event.
In the meantime, the Chinese company has already started working on the marketing side with its testimonial of excellence, the actor Robert Downey Jr., who has posted on Instagram a photo where the back of the next OnePlus 8 Pro is clearly visible, subsequently removed.
The company’s new devices should be available in different colors, including the brand new Green color. Thanks to the WinFuture leak we also have the alleged prices, which unfortunately are not absolutely cheap:
- OnePlus 8 – 8/128 GB: € 729
- OnePlus 8 – 12/256 GB: € 829
- OnePlus 8 Pro – 8/128 GB: € 929
- OnePlus 8 Pro – 12/256 GB: € 1,019
It remains only to await any further rumors in addition to the official announcement of the company.
