Intel Introduced 10th Gen Comet Lake U & Lake Y Processors; Offering Double Performance

Recent, Intel has expanded its 10th Gen processor series by launching 8 new processors comprising of Comet Lake Y and Comet Lake U chipsets equally. These Lake-U and Lake-Y series SoC are based on 14nm tech instead of Ice Lake’s 10nm tech. The company has added up to 6 cores in U-series and 4 cores in Y-series SoCs.

The company has mentioned that these new processors posses increased performance and graphics support.  You will also find a set of new feature included in these processors such as advanced network capabilities and optimization with the Intel Adaptix Dynamic Tuning Technology.

Intel Comet Lake-U Series SoCs

The U-series chipsets come with thermal design power (TDP), 6 cores and 12 threads. The threshold of TDP is 7 watts and 15 watts which can also be configured up to 24 Watts. U-lake SoC chipsets can be equipped with up to 12MB of low-latency cache. and supports Thunderbolt-3 ports (up to 4), Wi-Fi 6, DDR4 2666 memory.

The company has also claimed that the new 10th Gen Comet Lake-U CPUs will offer better performance by 16%.

The processors included in the Comet Lake-U series are:

  • Intel Core i7-10710U
  • Intel Core i7-10510U
  • Intel Core i5-10210U
  • Intel Core i3-10110U

Intel Comet Lake-Y Series SoCs

Intel has made Lake-Y series CPUs mainly for 2-in-1 Windows laptops, keeping a focus on its portability as the company has provided a fanless cooling fan solution. For the first time, the company has introduced quad-core processing in laptops having fanless cooling fan design.

The Y-Lake series CPU’s has 4 core and 8 threads and TDP which is 4.5 watts.

The processors included in the Comet Lake-Y series are:

  • Intel Core i7-10510Y
  • Intel Core i5-10310Y
  • Intel Core i5-10210Y
  • Intel Core i3-10110Y

It is to be noted that Intel has been recently caught working on a new SoC Atom codenamed as Lightning Mountain. It is to be noted that Intel launched the 10th Gen Comet Lake processors based on 14nm architecture that too after the company has already introduced the Ice Lake processors based on 10nm tech.
