HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The key difference in the new HTC flagship. Taiwan company HTC has announced their 2018 flagship, the HTC U12 Plus. The smartphone is a direct successor to 2017’s HTC U11 Plus. And one thing that surprised a lot of fans all over the world about the HTC U12 Plus is the camera. According to popular camera ranking company DxOMark, the HTC U12 Plus scored an impressive 103 points. And is now ranked second in the best camera phones standing, only below the Huawei P20 Pro.
Well, it seems that HTC means business this 2018. And we can’t wait to see what else they have in stock for us. Let’s not forget that HTC U11 Plus also features great camera quality. In this article, we will be comparing the HTC U12 Plus and HTC U11 Plus. Let’s see if the Taiwan company made any big upgrade from last year’s flagship.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The Design
HTC didn’t change much in the design of the HTC U12 Plus from the HTC U11 Plus. The HTC U12 Plus features minimal bezels than the HTC U11 Plus. Both the HTC U12 Plus and U11 Plus are built with a front and back glass and aluminum frame. The type of glass wasn’t specified, though my guess will be Corning gorilla glass 5. At the back is where you notice a major change. The HTC U11 Plus features a single rear camera. While the HTC U12 Plus features a dual rear camera in a horizontal direction at the center.
They both offer an IP68 water and dust protection. The three navigation buttons on the HTC U12 Plus is pressure-sensitive while the one on HTC U11 Plus isn’t. Coincidentally, the HTC U12 Plus and U11 Plus weigh the same 188 grams. But the HTC U11 Plus is slightly slimmer, measuring 8.5mm thick. While the HTC U12 Plus measures 8.7mm thick. The HTC U11 Plus is available in Translucent Black, Ceramic Black, and Amazing Silver body colors. While the HTC U12 Plus is also available in Ceramic Black body color along with Translucent Blue and Flame Red body colors.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The Display
The display specs of the HTC U11 Plus is the same with the HTC U12 Plus. On both phones is a 6.0 inch Super LCD 6 touchscreen. Their display offers a 1440 x 2880 pixels resolution, an 18:9 aspect ratio and 537 PPI density. Protecting the display of both phones is Corning gorilla glass 5. According to HTC, the HTC U12 Plus is compatible with High Dynamic Ranging (HDR). It should help the HTC U12 Plus display more accurate colors than the HTC U11 Plus.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The Camera
The rear camera of the HTC U11 Plus comes with a 12MP sensor, f/1.7 aperture, optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED dual-tone flash. The front camera of the HTC U11 Plus features an 8MP f/2.0 aperture shooter. The HTC U12 Plus comes with a better camera quality. The dual rear camera of HTC U12 Plus comes with a primary 12MP f/1.8 sensor, secondary 16MP f/2.6 sensor, phase detection & laser autofocus, optical image stabilization, gyro-EIS, 2x optical zoom and dual-LED dual-tone flash. At the front of the HTC U12 Plus is a dual camera. Not sure there are many high-end smartphones with a dual front camera. The dual rear camera of the HTC U12 Plus consists of an 8MP sensors with f/2.0 aperture on each sensor.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – Hardware and Software
The HTC U11 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is supported by either 4GB memory and 64GB storage, or 6GB memory and 128GB storage. The Adreno 540 graphics processing unit handles the graphics of the HTC U11 Plus. On the HTC U12 Plus is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, with 6GB memory and 64GB or 128GB storage. The Adreno 630 graphics processing unit is in charge of graphics in the HTC U12 Plus.
Both the HTC U11 Plus and U12 Plus runs on HTC Sense UI skin on top of Android 8.0 Oreo. While the HTC U12 Plus is already planned to receive the next Android operating system.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The Battery
The HTC U11 Plus packs a non-removable Li-lon 3930 mAh battery, which is surprisingly bigger than the HTC U12 Plus battery. The HTC U12 Plus comes with a reduced non-removable Li-lon 3500 mAh battery. The HTC U11 Plus and U12 Plus support fast battery charging version 3.0.
HTC U12 Plus VS HTC U11 Plus – The Price
The HTC U11 Plus is available for about $881 (N308,350). While the HTC U12 Plus is available for around $940 (N329,000). The HTC U12 Plus is a worthy successor, especially in the camera department and hardware.
