We will be teaching you how to solve your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 GPS Problem.
GPS (Global Positioning System) is one of the most important Features in a smartphone and is being used by most people in their day-to-day life. GPS helps position your device and gives relevant details of your position to apps that require this information. Apps like Google Maps, Uber, Taxify and the rest of them use GPS to know your location and help you navigate better.
So when the GPS start malfunctioning or just stops working it can be a problem for who those who depend on it. People like Uber, Taxify or any other e-hailing drivers and commuters who venture to unknown places on a daily basis. A lot of Samsung Galaxy Note 8 users have reported the GPS problem but it is not a major problem and probably doesn’t warrant the device to be recalled by Samsung. However, for the few who have the GPS problem on their unit of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 can try out the following to fix this problem.
How To Solve the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 GPS Problem
Now before we pull out the big guns let’s go through the basics.
Clear Data and Cache Of Maps
Clearing cache and data lets the GPS refresh and start all over again. Just like a factory resets on Smartphones clears all settings and previously installed apps and other stuff. So does this clear all and every setting in the GPS which might just be all it needs.
To do this, head straight to the Settings Menu and Click on Applications Manager. Looks for Maps in the list and Click on it. You should see the Clear Data and Clear Cache Buttons. Click the two and that should fix the problem. If it doesn’t then continue reading.
Turn On High Accuracy Mode
This feature like it says increases the accuracy of your GPS. You must be asking why it wasn’t turned on in the first place. Well, according to some people, having high accuracy mode turned on drains a lot more battery although I can’t say for sure if this is actually true.
Some apps like pokemon go would only work if the GPS is in high accuracy mode while apps like Uber, Taxify do not need the high accuracy mode turned on to function properly. So it all depends on the app you are using at the moment and what it demands.
To turn on High accuracy Mode, Goto Settings >> Location >> Mode >> Select High Accuracy Mode. This uses GPS, WiFi Bluetooth or Cellular Network to determine Location as opposed to using just GPS only.
Download The GPS Status and Toolbox App
If you’ve tried the two methods above and the problem still persists, then it might be time to call in the Cavalry. Just download The GPS Status and Toolbox App and open it. It will run a diagnostic test on your device and fix the GPS problem if it can. It can also do a lot of other stuff and is lightweight. Just 3MB in size.
If the GPS status and Toolbox App doesn’t fix your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 GPS Problem. Then it might be time to factory reset your device as that should ultimately do the trick, although you will lose your files.
