Honor Play gets an update that improves the Turbo GPU

Honor, the brand owned by Huawei, launched Honor Play last August, a cheap phone but with very interesting features. Apparently, the smartphone is receiving a new update that brings with it a series of performance improvements.

According to the same company from Shenzhen, the update is going to improve the Turbo GPU function and has also introduced the artificial image stabilization (AIS). The update weighs 722 MB and changes from the COR-AL00 version to the version of the COR-AL00.

During the launch event, the company explained how the Turbo GPU technology represents the greatest strength of the device, so as to be able to increase the performance up to 60% reducing the consumption of the battery up to 30%. Honor has said that to benefit from its Turbo GPU will be especially the gamers since the gaming experience will be significantly improved thanks to the high efficiency of graphics processing – the Turbo GPU improves speed and optimizes the gaming experience.

The technology, in the near future, will bring with it also the support for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). However, the update has a hitch. According to what is revealed online, GPU Turbo is plagued by some bugs, in particular, a significant reduction in the level of battery power and a slight heating of the device after playing continuously for about 25-30 minutes. In the last changelog reported, we note that the company has issued a correction for the GPU Turbo technology for Honor Play, but does not provide further details.

In addition, the AIS feature has also been added to the Honor Play, which we have also seen on the Huawei P20 Pro. The function should be better than EIS since it seems capable of stabilizing both photos and videos. The update is coming via OTA and it may take a day or two to arrive on all phones. Users are advised to access Settings> System> System Update> Check for Updates to check for the update.
